Sleeping with feet raised - any issues?

My 13wo DS is generally a good sleeper (touch wood) - however, for the last few days his long lunchtime nap has been 'broken'. It's not a major problem, but it does mean that he's then knackered later and gets very irate.

Have tried tweaking times etc etc, but his main issue seems to be lying flat (after feed at 11.30) - digestive discomfort. He'll happily sleep lying on my knees with his legs up my chest, but as soon as I put him flat in his cot he'll kick off (though he's happy in there at other times). So... today I tried putting him right at the bottom of his cot with his feet propped up the base. He stayed fast asleep.

Can anyone see anything wrong with doing this? It's not likely to cause any physical problems? He's a very heavy sleeper once down (so much so that we've had a couple of 'is he alive' panics), so I'm not worried about him fidgeting. Thoughts?

My DD slept with her legs up on a hard cushion for months up until she was 6mnths old. I worried about it but it was often the only way to get her back to sleep- our main soothing technique to 'pump her legs up'. It was because of wind and tension I think. I went to a homeopath and since I gave her a remedy for it she's slept flat or on her side.

I remember from my First Aid course that the best position to put someone in (if suffering from shock) is lying with legs raised above heart level. Saves lives. Eases circulation to the heart I believe (therefore surely no harm in it whatever your age?).

Off baby topic but:
I was once given a big wooden bed that used to belong dps grandfather. It was only when we slept in it did we realise the head end was lower than the foot end. Grandpa has apparently sawed a good few inches off the legs at the head end as he believed you should always sleep with legs raised above heart level . Never did get used to it!

Thanks guys - I though was probably OK, but wanted to check that nobody had a horror story!
Will see today if it was just a fluke or whether it really does work - think we've got a bit of a growth spurt/general disturbance at the moment anyway, so may all be connected...

FWIW, I can't sleep if my feet are higher than my head - a nightmare if you're camping on a slope!
