DD2 is 7 months soon and we sleep with her cot attached to our bed (one side taken off and mattresses level IFSWIM).

she now has started to crawl and easily rolls into my bed when she wakes. sometimes i dont even feel her just wake to see her next to me. it was initially whilst i breast fed lying down but now bottle fed and we just haven't changed it because don't want her to cry loud at night and wake up my other child who just started reception and needs to sleep.

I am in no hurry to move her into another room, infact DC1 was still in our room at 1 year which was fine. but i need to now break the habit of her coming into my bed.

how should i make the transistion. she isn't a good sleeper and wakes from 1 - 3 times a night.

I need to fo this too with my 9 month old so am awaiting pearls of wisdom

Why do you need to break the habit of her coming into your bed?

Mine always started off in their own bed, but somehow ended up in my bed. Isn't that normal?

Sorry, I don't have the answer!

i guess i want to stop her having the option of her coming into my bed which i am assuming will stop her waking in the night but reluctant to move her in her own room because don;t want her screaming down the house and waking my other child who needs to sleep for school.

Put the side back on the cot and lower the mattress?

LynetteScavo · 29/03/2010 09:04

Well, yes put the side back on and move the cot away from your bed.

It won't stop her waking up, though. It will just mean you have togo over and pick her up to bring her into your bed so you can all get some sleep.
