What age can babies replace dummy themselves at night?

My 5 month old daughter settles herself no problem at bedtime and after her night feed but I do 1-3 dummy runs a night, which seem to be increasing in number. She is otherwise a good sleeper who goes immediately back to sleep once the dummy's inserted and I think that she might ultimately sleep better without a dummy addiction (though who knows!).

I'm not particularly keen to get rid of her dummies just for the sake of it as it would no doubt be traumatic and she and I both find them usefeul, so I was wondering at about what age she's likely to be able to replace it herself? Her hand-eye co-ordination so far is ok but not great and the nursery is very dark.

Any advice / shared experiences greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DD has suddenly become able to do it. She is 11 months, but, due to prematurity, basically at a 7-8 month level. We did go cold turkey on the dummy a few months ago and it was fine - not too traumatic. However, for one reason and another she has now got them back, but it's not too dreadful since she can now replace them herself.
