Can anybody help pls?

my DD has always been such a good sleeper since 8 weeks she has slept all night 10pm-8am but think my luck has run out lol!

she is 6m now and for the last 3weeks she has started waking 3 times a night (she only woke twice as a newborn) 1am, 4am, 6am then gng back until 7am (she goes down at night at around 9pm now)

trying not to give her bottle when she wakes at 1am now in case that was encouraging her to wake but she doesnt seem bothered she just screams until i pick her up and soothe her and them falls asleep on my shoulder but wakes and cries when put her back in cot! so it takes a while to settle her

i do give her bottle then at 4am and she drinks it all and goes back so think she is hungry by then.

at 6am she seems to wake in pain or something again, like at 1am and i comfort her back to sleep

she has been teething for what seems like forever and has had trouble with it but has never woken her before and not dribbling as much during the day at mo, and i am giving her calpol before bed when she needs it. she is also fine during day and not unwell

she is on around 4 5oz bottles formula milk and has dinner and pudding around noon and porridge in evening but i struggle to get her to eat anymore than this and have tried for the last week replacing her last bottle at night with the extra hungry milk which doesnt make a diff either!

sorry this is so long but trying to put all nec detail in!

she has 2 naps, one around 10am and then another in afternoon but only for between 30min-2hrs

any ideas please?

i would imagine you may see some teeth popping through soon. May be worth trying ashton and parsons teething granules. They helped my daughter, when this started happening with us. good luck.

thanx - i have bought some ashton & parsons to try
did ur daughter return to her normal sleeping pattern when the teeth stopped bothering her?

Yes -the teeth are all here now - so she's has no more issues with the pain. But I always new when teeth were on there way!

Good luck

Pick your reason from:

  • teething
  • 6 month growth spurt
  • gross motor skills explosion
  • beginning to grasp object permanence (i.e. knows you're there, even if she can't see you)

The fact that she's slept through for so long is a good indicator she'll go back to sleeping through of her own accord.

My ds had terrible problems with his teeth. Calpol didn't seem to make it any better, but neurofen was much more effective. I've heard other mums say the same.
