Hi I have a six and a half month baby boy he is breastfed and has been since birth tried expressed milk in a bottle but he hated bottles and just got really upset.
I am weaning him at he moment and he is doing well but he just won't sleep well at night. He naps through the day a fairly big one in the afternoon, one in the morning and then maybe a couple later on in the day, he doesn't have a set routine for naps and have found it hard to put a routine together as he doesn't have set feeding times I have always just fed him whem he was hungry. Through the night he wakes up every hour or so and will only go back to sleep on the breast. I did have him in bed with me when he was feeding at night and would put him in his cot next to me when asleep but he doesn't really seem to be feeding too much at night but just wants the comfort of my breast. Don't want to keep this habit going of putting him to the breast all night but he won't take a dummy(just gags on it and spits it out)and if I just leave him he gets really worked up and starts coughing. I enjoy having him with me at night but don't want to make a rod for my own back and get him into a habit of always being with me at night has anybody got any ideas of trying to slowly get him out this habit at night.

Hmmmm, you may have to try putting him in his own room (if you have one for him?) They sometimes sleep better by themselves as they're not disturbed by you moving around, etc.

IME a routine for naps doesn't have much impact on the nights, but the total amount of sleep in the day does - but he does sound like he's getting enough.

Another potential disruption - is he teething? Might just be a phase you have to live with!

Hope some of these ideas help!

Thanks he does have his own room I just panic when I can't see him and hear him breathing at night. Should I is stop him sleeping in the day as much, how much is too much and are you supposed to keep babies awake
