Some kind of bed rail for co-sleeping

I am expecting DS2 in a couple of weeks (EEK). DD slept in an Amby Hammock except when I fell asleep in bed feeding her (frequently). I thought it would probably be best to get some kind of safety-type bed rail thingy for this baby as I think this will end up happening a lot! Any suggestions as to what?

I didn't have a rail but bought a bedside cot, I think it's better as it extends your bed (frequently my bum would be in the cot with teh baby sprawled out in the middle.

I think mine was about £120 which is a lot compared to a bed rail but it can be used as a normal cot and I'm about to use it for the third time. One side folds underneath and you adjust it to the exact same height as your own bed.

Something like this?

I used it for my DD when co sleeping.

DS will also sleep in the hammock next to the bed most of the time - except when I fall asleep! CaptP, that is the right sort of idea - did it fit on to a grown up bed?

I was also thinking of this one

PS Sweetkitty, those bedside cots are great - but we love our hammock and don't have the space for the cot.

They're pretty much the same thing aren't they? Tomy do them too in pink and blue.

I actually had the Tomy one but suspect the structure of them is identical. They come with long rails that have slight up turned hooks on the end which are designed to go under the mattress(a single one) and hang on to the opposite side but obviously if you use it on a double or kingsize bed the rails aren't long enough to reach the other side so just get wedged under the mattress.

With the weight of you and DH in the bed(not suggesting either of you are particularly weighty here) you will easily hold it in place. I did.

That's what I thought - just about to do a big mothercare order and am tempted to get it all from the same place. Also wanted to maek sure it would attach to our bed. will take it as excuse to eat many pies in order to keep the whole lot weighed down.

Excellent excuse, it's to keep the baby safe...scoff...scoff!
