Can anyone recommend a travel cot?

6 week DS is currently sleeping in the carry cot during the day but this now seems to be a bit too narrow for him. He's OK whilst he's asleep but doesn't have room to have a good kick or wave his arms around when he's awake.

So, we're thinking of getting a travel cot to use as a daytime sleeping area downstairs. We would like to use it as a playpen later. Ideally the mattress can be adjusted to two heights and there are fitted sheets available. Not sure if we'll ever use it for travelling so weight isn't crucial, but ideally it will be lightweight.

Can anyone please recommend one?

We bought a mothercare own brand one - fits all the criteria you mention, with the exception of weight...its not exactly light, but not that heavy.

We used it as a play pen, a cot and it also has a fold over changing station which was really handy for me as had a c section so meant I wasn't bending over too far for nappy changes

Not sure if they still do it but will take a look for you

Something like this but ours didn't have wheels - was more basic and had the bassinet and changing station

We've got this one which is really good. Not too heavy but it's sturdy and has a good base. We got it second hand from ebay too, much cheaper.

Can't recommend a specific one, but make sure you get a big (proper cot-size) one as they seem to come in at least two sizes.

The little ones aren't much good as playpens, nor for sleeping beyond a year or so if your baby is big.

Agree with castille - I have had two. One was a Hauck cot size one (had disney stiff on it) and DS1 who is 3.6 still uses it happily with plenty room. Doenst need wheels, easy and relatively light. have had loads of use out of it, (though not as a playpen)

The other one I got in an emergency and was a smaller standard size one. DS2 is almost 2 and it is too small for him, although otherwise is a good sturdy travel cot.

We also have the BabyDan one - it isn't height adjustable but great for travelling as it folds quite small. The mattress is quite hard though so we bought a proper mattress to go with it.

Also it is quite a big one so lasts until they are 3. I got this one after reading good MN reviews here.

I really recommend the Phil & Teds one. Its not cheap (£109 from kiddiecare.com - here it is) but v light (3kg) and meant to last until they are 3 years old. We went travelling w it - could stuck it in the suitcase and v quick to set up.
