DS is 8 weeks old and is nursed to sleep and this has always happened even at night when we cosleep. When i've tried taking my boob out of his mouth he wakes up or if he doesnt when i put him down he wakes up screaming and we have to start again.

I'm wanting to regain my bed but want DS to feel secure so is it possible to do gradual withdrawal/retreat and if so where should i start and what should i do?

Have you got the book 'the no-cry solution' by Elizabeth Pantley. It has some great suggestions. There is also a book 'Teach your child to Sleep' which has a wide range of suggestions including details of the gradual withrawl/retreat.

I'm afraid I did not start doing this until DS1 and then DS2 where at least 9 months old when I decided to reduce the night time feeds until I gave up BF at 15 months.
