5 month old waking at 5am - hunger or something else?

My DD has always been a really good sleeper, going from 7pm with a dream feed at 10pm to 7am since she was 10 weeks old, but over the last 2 weeks she has started waking up at 5am, so I get up and give her a dummy which I may have to do 3 times and then she goes back to sleep until 7am - any idea why this has just started or is this a hunger thing? I have been mixed feeding her and have increased her bottles to 8oz but she just gulps them down, then I BF her and she still cries for more - am I getting to the weaning point? The HV was useless - any advice?

5 months is typical growth spurt age

She needs more milk

Feed when she wakes up or can you try to feed her more in the day?

Another thought - does your heating/boiler click on at that time? might be enough to disturb her

You are a genius! My heating comes on then -
trots off to work out the timer thing. I have been increasing her feeds, but she is a big baby (on the 95th percentile), she is sloshing with the milk. Might have to try the hungry baby formula. Thanks for responding!

my DD used to sleep from 10 till 6 but at this age, started to wake and now at 6mo, is still feeding 3 times a night again. sorry if this is not what you want to hear. it is apparently quite common at this age.

not sure how many times a night i repeat 'this too shall pass....'

Thanks for responding Olivo - I changed the heating which didn't help, so then I just didn't give her a dummy to spit out the last couple of nights and that has worked, as I think she was crying because she had lost it. I will see how we go - thanks again!
