Reluctant Cot Sleeper

My 4 mth old DS was sleeping well in his cot, however since beginning teething he now will sleep in your arms but as soon as he is put in his cot he screams the place down. Last night we ended up holding him in our bed just so we could get some sleep, but I obviously don't want him to get used to that.
Has anyone else experienced this, I presume its due to teething but any advice on getting him to sleep in his cot would be great!

There are lots of reasons for changes in young babies' sleeping habits. It's quite possible that he's teething, but is there any chance that it could be something else, for example earache? Although the pain of teething and earache may not be so bad during the day, being laid horizontally at night can lead to tears as the increased pressure on the head increases the pain.
You could try raising the head of his cot with some books to relieve some of the pressure.
Calpol before bedtime can often make a big difference in soothing off to sleep too.
If you can help it, try not to let him sleep in your bed. Once he starts, he will not want to go back to his cot at all. That will make many more problems for the future.
