solids equals more sleep?????

My DD is coming up to 6 months - so far she is excl bf. And her sleeping is not the best! She generally goes down at 6.30 then wakes 8.30 11 1 3 and 4 before up for day at 6 - 6.30 ish. Fair to say I'm exhausted!!!
So [clutching at straws] I'm wondering if the introduction of solids may go some way to getting us both more sleep - have people noticed a connection between solids and more sleep?? Please say yes

Sorry, but no there wasn't a correlation for ds1 or 2.

However they also didn't wake up that many times in the night at that age, so maybe it will make a difference - but not for a while as it takes time for them to be eating 3 good meals a day.

Good luck, you WILL get there with the sleep.

it worked for me (though there is no statistical evidence either way) - longer duration of overnight sleep though i believe it has been statistically shown not to increase the total amount of hours slept)

not here either, made the second 2 sleep worse for a little while, then back to normal i'm afraid

Nope. I was unreasonably excited both the first time ds had solids and the first time he had formula (both around 6 months), assuming, because I'd spent 26 weeks hearing it, that they would send him out for the count for 12 hours.

Made no difference at all in our case.

it didnt make a difference until they were well established on solids and not just taking a few spoon fulls. It also could have not been related to soilds at all!

No difference here - sorry.

Does your DD nap well - we had a sleep problem a few times over the years - normally that kind of waking pattern I would put down to being overtired. The constant waking at night means they just build up the sleep deprivation and then ime wake even more!

Do you feed her when she wakes in the night, can she settle herself down when she goes to bed or for naps?

Most babies will wake during the night - but should be able to re-settle down, howevere if they are used to you being there, or a lovely comfy feed then they will call out each time (have been there!!!)
