ok, not whilst she's asleep, but I put her in bed for her nap, she stands up, I go back in and lie her down, repeat up to 12 times, all accompanied by crying, until she finally goes to sleep. any suggestions?

It's incredibly irritating isn't it? It's perfectly developmentally normal, and as far as I'm aware most babies do it at some point. I'm big and mean and nasty and stood watching through a crack in the door when i reaslised this was happening and marched straight back in and lay her down without any eye contact or talking. Cue big tears for a few days then she learnt.

We now have 'chatting to toys' stage. Can't do anything about that one.

What I don't get is that a few weeks back we had a party at the house. 50 odd people here a proper DJ disco and she slept through the whole thing apart from getting up for a half hr to see everyone and then going straight back down...WTF ?"! (wasn't planned that way, had babysitter all organised to take her to her house for the night but babysitter ended up staying at the party as she was redundant)
Now, it's the slightest creek of floorboards, heating switching on, car outside ...and it's whats going on?, stand up, won't sleep but need a sleep type thing going on.
arrah

An exciting development- I lay her down over 25 times at naptime this morning then my mum said just leave her for a few minutes, so I did, 3 minutes, then went back in, lay her down and... she went straight to sleep!! Maybe she realised I was helping her not being horrid mummy. Great relief after only 30 minutes sleep in the day yesterday
