I let my 13 week dd fall asleep on me after feeds for all her daytime naps - all very cosy and I liked it a lot at first. Hot chocolate, movie, baby. Done, as Gordon Ramsey would say. However I didn't really realise what a hard habit this would be to break.
DD's eyes pop wide open when I try and put her sleeping into her basket. So, in order for her to get her naps, I have to stay rooted to the spot (she doesn't like a sling). All was ok, but now I really need to reclaim a bit of the day for myself. I need to eat healthily! Phone friends! Have a wee wee when I need to!
So I need to get her into her cot for naps. Am looking at the Baby Whisperer EASY routine and going to try and do that. I saw a programme with her on telly a couple of weeks ago where she swaddled the baby, sat in the dark, ssshed, and waited for the baby to stop crying and fall asleep. It took about 15 mins.
If I did this, would I have to do it for EVERY nap? Has anyone else done this, and does the crying get less?
I fret at the thought that I may cause dd to cry quite a bit before every nap, whereas once she just fell asleep on me. Will she get used to it?
Are there any other methods I can try? I can't think of any really.
Thanks!
