did any of you have children who just sorted it out on their own without intervention (eg no pick up put down, no ferber, no gradual withdrawal,)
dd's sleeping is appalling but am still trying desperately to go with the flow and meet her needs as best as I can. She is 8mths now.
Just want reassurance that it maybe just time, maturity and the age old phase and that she will gradually get the hang of this sleep business.

Ds3 slept 3 hours out of 24 for his first 3 years honestly without a fib thats true ..... the first time he slept through I was awake in a panic checking on him-hes still not a fab sleeper but so much better.

Id had 2 dc before all excellent sleepers and worked for the SS supporting positive parenting - trust me when I say a poor sleeper is no reflection of your parenting.

I used to be downstairs in the middle of the night doing my housework with a wide awake ds3 playing merrily -I did invest in a playpen so he could play safely while I dosed - although on occasion id pack up the buggy and go next door tomy imsomniac neighbour and wed drink horlicks and do the take a break puzzles.

thanks nickschick, If I get truely sick of being a human pacifier (she will not feed lying down so co sleeping doesn't help)I strap her into her buggy and have become very adept at rocking that rythmically while dozing!!!

if anyone has experience of this could they please look in on my "I don't want to do controlled crying but..." thread. Think I am going a little bit mad. I could do with an insomniac neighbour nickschick, that sounds lovely

Sorry to hijack - OP I know how you feel, I have a 15 month old and really want to go with the flow but it is very difficult.

I haven't heard of pick up put down, maybe that is more gentle than CC? I am kind of anti sleep training at all is all
