Wind in the night...

Wondering if anyone can advise - I have a 3yr old DS so not new to this, but really can't remember this from with him...

I have 4 week old twins - they were just over 4 weeks early, so their 'due date' is tomorrow. They are now each about 6.5lb. They are super sleepy, very easy, babies so far . They are formula fed.

But at all the night feeds - anything from 8/9pm ish onwards they are VERY unsettled after feeds taking towards an hour to settle. We think it's wind, but we do our best to wind well after each feed. They are not like this in the day at all despite frequently going straight back to sleep after a feed (e.g. I just fed them at 6am and they've both gone straight back down no niggles, but I have to get up now with DS so no chance for me to nap!). It's only a problem because it means we're getting VERY little sleep. And I wonder if there's something we can do - isn't it odd that they are fine during the day (yet still sleeping) but like a switch at night each feed plus settling is taking us about 2 hours... meaning about 1 hour for sleep (with the odd screech) twice a night - I'm not sure quite how long we can go on like this now DH is back to work, I'm worried about him driving, but don't know what we can do because obviously they are tiny, and there's two of them etc... I tried one night of me doing both of them all feeds so DH could sleep and I gave in at 4.30am after I had been literally awake the entire night - I'm pretty good on little sleep, but not on none! Help please anyone!

I have no advice to give, but I share some of your pain. Our 2-week-old DD2, who is breastfed, is a picture of calm all day long, but then a windy nightmare all night. Her big sister had silent reflux, but it was a completely different story to this and she always slept pretty well at night. With DD2, I'm pretty sure it's wind because I can hear it gurgling around her system, and she does explosive farts and poos towards the end of the night. Poor love, it's not a dignified business. Like you, we manage to get her back to sleep after night feeds after an hour or more of rocking, sshhhh-ing and cuddling, then she sleeps OK until the next feed when it starts all over again. In the day it's a completely different story.

Let's hope someone comes along soon with some sage advice. I'm slowly getting hazier with each sleepless night, and DP is going back to work on Monday, poor sod.

I'm using Infacol, just to feel like we're making an effort really. But I can't report any miracle results.
