Sleep bags and night feeds

What do you think about keeping sleep bags on for night feeds? A few days ago we started putting our month-old DD to bed in a grobag-type thing, and so far it's been brilliant - it's much easier to settle her. So brilliant that I certainly don't want to take her out of it in the middle of the night. But when she wakes for a feed she's so cosy that she falls asleep again when we've barely started. I've tried unzipping the bag so that her legs are out of it, but that leaves a warm wodge of duvet bunched around her top half making her drowsy, and I keep getting tangled up! Any ideas please? Thanks!

Grobags are brilliant - no need to take them off when feeding! Baby stays nice and warm and will go back to sleep more easily.

why would you take it off? one of the best things is that you keep them warm and cosy. stroke her cheek if anything to get her feeding more. otherwise i'd just pop her back down if she falls asleep.

I always kept the sleeping bag on for feeds. Mind you all of mine nearly always used to do a poo as soon as they were fed so I had to unzip the bag and change their nappy (but still kept it on their shoulders and just folded it back for access(!) even then).

If she is falling straight off to sleep I would be wondering whether she is actually that hungry, do you always rush to pick her up when she stirs or have you tried leaving her 5 mins or so to see if she resettles herself?

Gently pressing your finger against and stroking the cheek definitely helps to keep them feeding.

Thanks all, especially Nelly! Will persevere with the feeding-in-a-bag.
