what bedding in this cold weather?

Hi all, am a bit perplexed about what I should be doing to keep my 10 week old DD warm at night in this chilly weather. Temp gauge shows the nursery is dropping down sometimes as low as 10 degrees. Should we be keeping the heating on at night, or just adding layers of bedding? We have her in a 2.5 sleeping bag plus one sheet and a light cotton blanket folded in two. This feels like too much but it is also really cold! What are others doing?

At 18 degrees you should have a vest, babygro and the sleeping bag. I would add clothes rather than sheets and blanket. But no idea which is better.

Should add that we are turning the thermastat down to 14 degrees before bedtime but leaving it running overnight.

If they get too cold they will wake up and cry so don't worry to much.

I don't know about you but even when it gets really cold in the middle of the night I don't wake up but if I get too hot then I will???

I would just err on the side of caution over how many layers extra you add, go for cool rather than risk overheating.

feel the back of her neck and if she's warm enoiugh don't worry

if she;s chilly more clothes rather than more bedding is a better bet

dd used to wake up and complain very vocallyif she got too cold - it' snot liek overheating

Last Xmas when it was v cold (Ds was about 12 weeks) I had him in a 2.5 tog gro bag with a woolly jumper and mittens and a woolly blanket over the top too. He was in a crib by us and never felt over warm despite the layers.

I'd say go with your instincts, I know of babies who have far more and far less bedding and they all seem to be surviving ok.

I'd leave the heating on low overnight if it's getting down that low. I have been setting the thermostat to 17.0 degrees before we go to bed for the past couple of weeks!
