Dreamfeed?

If there is another thread regarding this, please let me know, and post a link to save everyone from typing the same. But muy questios are:

  • How do you do it?
-When the baby is how old? -What time at night? -For how long?

My baby is 10 weeks, and after she had really bad colic, we started to put her to bed at aroun 11pm and adjusting all the day routine around that. She would fall sleep at aroud 11.30, wake up during the night but if I put the dummy back on she would last until 6 or 7, feed and go back to sleep until 11 again!. So I thought, if we can do 11 to 11 (more or less) why not try 9 to 9? But it has been a disaster, put her last night at 9, she woke up at 1, then at 3 (fed her) and at 7 (fed her again) nd as she was so tired she slept til 9.30. But I am even more tired than before! Should I try the dreamfeed?

Thanks a lot beforehand for your replies.

the dreamfeed is from the babywhisperer book by tracey hogg. I think that 10 weeks might be too young for it to be honest. The theory of it is that you do a feed before you go to bed, between 10 and 11 pm. For this feed, you do it very quietly in the dark without waking up the baby. You lift them out of bed, feed them and lay them back down.
If you are into a routine, I don't think it's as simple as just changing the times one day. If I was you, I would put her to bed around 7ish, bath, feed and bed. then leave her till the next feed at 10 or 11 ish.
TBH I wouldn't worry about sticking to the times too much yet. Remember babies that age will keep going through growth spurts when they will want to feed more, so feeding in the night more could be related to that.
Just go with the flow and don't worry about it too much!!

Sorry just found a link here to a better explanation of dreamfeeds.
It says that dreamfeed won't make a baby sleep through, rather, you top them up before you go to bed, so you can hopefully get a good few hours in undisturbed before they do wake up for a feed.
I would think that if you want to alter the time of your routine, bring bedtime earlier than 11pm, you would need to get dd up earlier in the morning. When she wakes at 7ish, feed her then keep her up until a nap. At the end of the day it's whatever suits you though!

your baby still has colic now? cos if she does not anymore, then i agree that it will be worth it trying to get her routine for 7 to 7.

i do dreamfeed for my LO since he was 10 weeks old. his dreamfeed is around 10.30pm. he cluster feeds between 6-8pm.

Thanks for your replies. The bath before bedtime its discarded as it made her more awake! Honestly, she loved it, laughs, plays and smiles and then she is too excited to sleep! So we do that in the morning and it works better.

I tried to keep her awake in the morning, but the day I wrote this she was feeding around 7 and she fell sleep at the bottle, so much that I couldn't even get her to burp. Today she woke up at 8.30-ish and then stayed awake, but she fell sleep at 12 last night! And now she is having a nice long nap in her cot.

Sometimes I feel bad that we don't have a routine set, but I can't see a pattern in her behaviour either (as you can see) so it is difficult to know what to do!

I will bear in mind your advices anyway!

I forgot to say that she doesn't have a colic anymore!
