DS waking because he is cold - solution?

DS (15 months) sleeps with a bodysuit, sleeping bag, and a couple of layer of blankets. He is quite restless and sometimes tosses off the blankets, and the wakes because he is cold. Does anyone have any bright ideas?

Keep his room warm enough for him to not need the blankets - simple.

we had this problem and we bought one of those oil filled radiator heaters to put in his room. It's a delonghi bambino one, with a thermostat. DS now sleeps in a vest, sleepsuit, 2.5 tog sleeping bag and the heater keeps the room temperature at about 18 degrees. he still wakes, but not because he's cold ;)

My DD felt cold in bed & her room is very cold (which I think is ok as long as she is warm) She now has vest, pj's duvet + a down throw on top, which is very light, but helps trap the heat in.

I think it's ok if the room is cold as longs as bed is very warm.

Maybe it's time for a duvet? It's OK for children to use a duvet from the age of 12 months. Our youngest started with a single duvet laid right across his cot bed (when we had turned it into a bed - mind you I must admit he was more like 24 months, rather than 15 months old at that stage). But we found that he wasn't able to kick it off so easily as it was laid across his bed (widthways). He just looks so snuggly and warm under it - went for 4.5 tog and put a blanket over when really cold.

Can you reduce heat loss in the room by adding thermal curtain linings, putting insulating film on the windows and a draught excluders under the door? That way if you do heat the room it will retain it's temperature longer.

We have the heating on 24 hours a day, set on 19 degrees and it just clicks on and off as needed. The house is never chilly, not too hot either. Perfect Smile
