how to stop baby rolling over onto tummy and waking up?

Hi, she wakes up in cot on her tummy with her head up and alert. Think she wouldn't wake up if she couldn't roll perhaps. She is 8mo. Any ideas? Thanks.

Not sure what to suggest, she is too old to be swaddled, maybe a grobag if she isn't already in one?

Thanks but she is in a grobag and that doesn't stop her. Am considering a Safe T sleep - they hold them in place - but am wondering if its too late to start using one...so seeing if others have found another solution?

There is no solution. It's a normal, developmental stage. It doesn't last long. She'll start rolling back onto her back or self settling like that if she prefers.

Can't offer a solution, I'm afraid. Mine does the same thing and he's almost 8months now - pops his head up like a jack in the box at the slightest sound (see my thread on the light sleeping issue). But, mind you, I put him to sleep on his tummy (saves time actually - he rolls onto his front to fall asleep anyway, so I figured I might as well put him in that position as soon as I put him down).

Have you tried putting her down to sleep on her front? She's definitely old enough to roll back, should she wish to do so.

My little boy has taken to rolling onto his side (from front) in the middle of his sleep now - using the cot rails as a wall to lean back on .

DD went through a stage of doing this- I put a rolled up blanket around the edge of her cot to make like a little nest (if you can imagine that!). I put her sheet over the top of it, so she can't get wrapped up in it by mistake. Seems to have done the trick- she now just sleeps happily on her back. I did try taking it out for a while, but she wailed, so quickly replaced it.
