10wk old waking up freezing

For the last few nights, DS has woken at 4am frozen. The temperature here has suddenly dropped and we are having problems with the heating. I read the guides about what to dress your baby in for each temperature, but he is still so cold.

We either swaddle him, then place a blanket on him or put him a 2.5tog grobag. His whole body feels very very cold so I know I'm not getting the bed clothes correctly matched to the temperature. He has a sleepsuit with gloves and a vest on, yet is still so cold.

Any tips on dressing him at night would be greatly appreciated. I'm so worried about over heating him, yet I'm now worried about him freezing.

DD (age 4.5yrs) gets very cold at night, she wears PJs, fleece suit and 10tog duvet, yet still complains of being cold...it looks like they've both inherited their father's blood circulation!

Can you keep the heating on? We can't really afford for it to be on at night. I tend to put DD3 (5 months) in a fleecy sleepsuit, vest , 2.5 tog grobag and a doubled over cellular blanket over the top of that. And she is still cold.

So, when she sleeps i just put her in bed with me and we all sleep fine.

But you may not be comfortable with that due to SIDs so hopefully someone will come along with some better advice....

sorry that should read 'when she wakes...'

if you don't want to leave the heating on all night, we used to use a tiny plug-in oil radiator from Argos. It had a built in thermostat and kept the room at a reasonable temperature without broiling the rest of the house.

Our heating is on the blink right now..some days it works, other days it is warmer outside! Maybe I'll try a fleece sleep suit and grobag tonight.

We have a similar problem. I put a warm hot water bottle (not hot) under a fleece blanket before putting DS down. So he sleeps on top of a fleece blanket. He's swaddled and covered in another fleece blanket.

We've also got a fleece waterproof mattress cover and flannette sheets which helps keep the heat in...

That's a lot of fleece I realise!! I take the hot water bottle away - DS doesn't sleep with it. He also sleeps in a fleece (!) sleepsuit with a vest top underneath. He doesn't get hot as I check religiously!
