DS2 is 2, he has 1 nap in the day around 12-1 and then go to sleep of an evening around 9. Yesterday I kept him awake all day to get him to sleep earlier. So I could spend some time with ds1 and dp.
Anyway it worked and he was asleep by 7.45 which was great and at 8.30 I put him into bed. He woke up at 9.30 and that was im until 1.45 this morning,as you can guess he is still asleep.
As a result I woke up late which means ds1 is up late for school and is only just leaving.

Why when I keep him awake from his nap will he have that nap when I want him to go to bed and then wake for the night.....

any ideas?? I am knackered today!!!

Feel your pain. I am cruel and wouldnt letting him sleep in now though. When you say he was asleep by 730 and you put him to bed at 830 what do you mean? Where does he fall asleep?

He was probably over tired last night and therefore slept too deeply too quickly and treated it as his nap instead of bedtime.

normally he goes to sleep in the living room and then gets put in his bed, the only reason for this is our bedroom is so cold and also damp....waiting for it to be sorted out.
So he goes to sleep in living room and normally I leave him there until i go to bed and then he goes in his bed. And sleep all night until 7.30-8am.

I think 2 year olds still need a nap during the day. If you want to get him to go to bed earlier how about you start his routine 15/30 mins earlier each day until he's both having a nap and going to bed at whatever time you want him to?

It sounds like skipping the nap probably isn't the way to go at the moment.
