If anyone's up...

My 10 mo DS usually sleeps pretty well but atm he has a chest infection. Went to bed at 12.30 (my first mistake), he woke at 1, wouldn't go back down, gave up at 3 and brought him downstairs to play merrily (hmm, can't be that much wrong with him, eh?) Just looking out for others in the same boat.

I'm not in exactly the same boat, I'm up because I'm ill and can't sleep.
I do recall being up and 4am watching 'Troy' whilst my DP played happily with his baby gym.
Thought I might as well do something interesting.

EightiesChick · 25/11/2009 03:45

Sorry you are ill Rowingboat. But hello!

I'm contemplating watching something off the Sky+ box and settling in. DS is now trying to pull the cat's fur. Cat not happy. Have put heating on too. I refuse to be cold if up at this hour!

No don't be cold, that's not good. Poor cat though, can you let the cat out or is it raining?
If you think you are in for the long haul I would say put something on TV and settle down, he'll get tired eventually.

EightiesChick · 25/11/2009 03:58

Cat has now shown sense and bolted to another part of the house. They usually get on well.

Am seriously contemplating taking DS out in the car as that worked like magic earlier in the day. No guarantee that he won't wake when brought back in though.

You must be desparate.
The very thought! [shudders]
Mind you, if it works you could both sleep in the car.
Sorry I'm becoming a bit peculiar due to sleep-deprivation.

Ooo! I've just had a thought, you could drive to a 24 hour supermarket and buy croissants for breakfast.

rowingboat · 25/11/2009 04:06

or lunch!
Cor TeamEd you're good! I couldn't do that lot in a day.
I would probably end up waking everyone else up if I attempted to do the washing up at the moment.

I am up! sore throat, bunged up nose, no sign of baby, can't sleep. I am loving the idea of croissants. How appropriate is it for an overdue pregnant woman to be out buying croissants a tesco's 10 min drive away? However, it would be a good attempt to test sod's law wouldn't it? .

Rowingboat - did your dp really play in his baby gym or is that sleep depravation and illness making you hallucinate ?

teamedward i am considering cleaning the kitchen floor. But perhaps not scrubbing. Might do it the modern way and use the mop. Do you think that is the same?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 25/11/2009 04:57

BORED! You lightweights!

I have a very very strong desire to put up some paintings. That would be very rude of me wouldn't it?

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 25/11/2009 05:32

Well I'm up for the nth time tonight feeding ds. However I'm not planning on doing housework as I intend to be fast asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow!

Pavlov I remember the rubbishness of being unable to sleep whilst pregnant- I suppose it did get me used to being up at unearthly hours!

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 25/11/2009 05:34

I have tummy ache and feel sick

EightiesChick · 25/11/2009 07:45

Drove out with DS till he fell asleep at around 5.30. Parked up and slept till 6.50. Should be better than nothing but I'm feeling more tired now!

Have to go to work for a couple of hours this morning but will be able to use flexi and slope away after that. Have friend coming to babysit so hope she keeps him awake so that he sleeps while I'm around.

In awe of all the housework being done! And wish I'd thought of croissants. I had planned to get a coffee while out from the McD's drive thru but they weren't open at the time I went past

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 25/11/2009 09:19

Maccy Ds not open? Thought they were meant to be 24/7? how annoying! I hope you manage to get some sleep later on.

rowingboat · 25/11/2009 14:23

Morning all,
hope you survived work OK Eighties

EightiesChick · 25/11/2009 22:12

Pavlov they open near me at 5.30, so I was just too early and by 5.30 I was parked up and trying to settle down to sleep in the driver's seat.

rowingboat thanks. It could have been a lot worse. Tomorrow my DS will go back into nursery as he's much livelier and temp is down. However, he was hell to get down again tonight so I am afraid of it being a repeat no sleep marathon. Also, I've got a girls' night out tomorrow, which didn't worry me at all last week when he was going down easily, but now it's filling me with dread to think of trying to put him to bed tomorrow and then having to go out with him still crying. DH is working so he'll be with his babysitter. Guilt, guilt.

If I'm up again tonight I'll have a better go at trying to find a solution. Off to bed now though.

Oh, sorry, hope you're both feeling better btw [yawn emoticon - we really should have one of these]

rowingboat · 26/11/2009 00:44

Hope you get a bit of sleep tonight eighties.
I'm up late, but I work late and have to try to do laundry when I come home. Obviously nothing can be hung out at the moment.
