This is my first post here so hello everyone. [waves]

My 8mo son has had trouble sleeping from the word go. He was a very uncomfortable and windy newborn but i was sure he would start to sleep once his digestive system settled.

Unfortunately since his first teething episode at 4mo he's had colds, constipation and more teething, he's been so uncomfortable, bless him, that he just can't sleep well.

he is over the colds and teeth and i'm just about getting his constipation under control and desparate to sleep train him but i'm left so tired by it all my head won't work!

We did manage to sleep train him a little, and stop his suck to sleep association, and get him to sleep in his cot instead of in bed with me but he cant go to sleep or resettle by himself, he's still nightfeeding too which i think is now habitual.

should i tackle these two issues at once or one by one? id really rather not use cc but i dont think gradual withdrawel will work as he always gets upset when i try to withdraw a bit and ends up falling asleep with me comforting him anyway. has anyone used settle and leave and can tell me more about it?

i feel really tired and muddleheaded by it all and would really appreciate some fresh viewpoints.

helpppppp!

If you're so sleep deprived yourself (I feel your pain am going through it all over again with DD who is 7mo, having finally got DS sleeping through the night at 2.9yo), I'd be tempted to go with the flow for now and just co-sleep, to at least see if this helps him get into a better sleep pattern and gives you more sleep if he's feeding at night - you can at least lie down and sleep as you feed.

But, if this isn't very helpful, you might find Elizabeth Pantley No cry sleep-solution useful, it gives step-by-step tips to gradual retreat. (That's if you're into books and have the energy left to read!)
