DS sleeping A LOT at 15 weeks

DS is 15 weeks now, doing all the things he should be doing at this age - smiling, 'talking', grabbing things and he just rolled over for the first time today.

He does sleep LOADS during the day though. He does play and 'talk' to me but if I feed and leave him lying somewhere, 9 times out of 10 he will just fall asleep and sleep till his next feed (2-3 hours).

Just need some reassurance that his sleeping habits are ok... he's sleeping blissfully with a smirk on his face as I write.

Probably a growth spurt. He should be sleeping something like 14-16 hours a day. If he sleeps longer, but is alert when awake, gaining weight, producing copious amounts of wee/poo, etc. then I would be very grateful and enjoy it while it lasts. (It won't last.)

Both my children always slept a lot and got grumpy easily if they didn't sleep. I don't think health visitors make parents aware of how much sleep babies need - it is essential for growth and tends to make for a much more contented baby. My dd is 20 weeks now and she will sleep from 6pm til my ds wakes her somewhere around 6-6.30 am then will go back for a nap at 8am of around 1 1/2 - 2hours, then again around 12 and again around 4pm. Everyone always comments on how strong and alert she is so it can't be doing any harm. Enjoy the time to recoup and rest and have some time for yourself (and don't feel guilty!!)
