how do i keep her warm

my dd is really bad for kicking off her covers we bought a sleeping bag for her but her hands are always freezing and she seems to wake up because of this. tried mits but she wont keep them on or screams when i put them on

any tips

Hi my ds kicks his covers off too.I wouldnt worry too much at this time of year, my ds has no covers at all at the moment-he is 22 weeks. I dress him in a baby gro. Could she be waking up for other reasons?

you could put her in a long sleeved vest, baby gro and lightweight cardi - with the sleeping bag as well, surely she'll be warm enough then?

on second thoughts, might be dangerous to wrap up a baby too warmly though - they dehydrate v. quickly. It could be teething or something waking her up - how old is she?

hands are supposed to be cold, they are extremities hence the blood gets their last - if her core body (back of neck) is cold then assume she's cold .. if its just her feet and hands then don't worry too much and assume she is waking up for another reason

Agree with Twiglett - even if her hands are cold, it doesn't mean that she is too cold. Feel the back of her neck, that gives a more accurate idea of whether they are cold or not. It's more important to make sure she's not to hot.

do not listen to older generation on issues of how much clothing a baby should wear .. they should wear what you would be comfortable in - so if you're in a t-shirt, a t-shirt is fine for a baby too

my HV said that babies often have cold hands and feet as the circulation isn't very good yet! don't know if it's true, but ds used to have really cold hands... but better now he's older

have found the perfect way to keep her warm yay. sil bought her a dressing gown a bit ago but now it fits her so she wears it to bed with just a light blanket she seems to like it and i think it makes her feel snug. at last lol

Is she is the dressing gown and single blanket tonight?!?

I don't know what it is like where you are, but where I am it's chuffing hot. 3 yr old and 1 year old are in light cotton pj's with no covers

its really cold here wish we could get some of the heat every1 is talking about lol

starshaker, asda do babygros with little flaps that you fold over their hands, like mittens,

maybe they are sold out just now, because of the time of year, but i have some (still good condition) if you would like them?

Mothercare do pjamas with built in scratch mits which fold over the hands. But I agree that all babies hans and feet seem cold to the touch.

Ah Scotland - that explains it. A good few degrees cooler than the South Coast of England where we are!
