9mo + Separation Anxiety = No Sleep, anyone want to hand hold?

My 9mo (nearly 10mo) DS used to be relatively easy to put down but has never slept well - always up in the night at least twice, usually 3 hourly. He goes through spells where he will sleep for a day or two until 4/5am and I think I have cracked it but of course I haven't.

Just recently he's started crying if I leave him and won't go to anyone else. If DH tries to settle him in the night he wails like he's in pain. This is totally out of character (apart from the DH part ) as he's usually quite a confident, sociable baby.

Evenings have got to be a nightmare. He won't let me leave his room, wants to hold my hand while he is in his cot, doesn't settle and instead of our previously calm bedtimes I now have a screaming, overtired, fussy mess of a baby and no evening. He's also waking regularly in the night for reassurance - as if we needed more wakings, and screaming when I put him down after a night feed.

Anyone else in the same boat?

No, as I have no boat as such. Just a baby that sleeps on my/dh chest all night.

But I send you much love from the thread. x

My 7 1/2 month old dd has just started to spoil the fantastic routine we established for all of 2 weeks! I finally managed to drop the dream feed at 11pm and have her sleep through till 6am (bliss - I went the pub with friends for the first time in 7 1/2 months!)then seperation anxiety kicked in. She wakes 1 hour after going to bed, then at 12ish, then at 4am and again at 6am. I'm feeding her to settle her and undoing all my hard work. Do you know how long this takes to pass? Does anyone know?!!
