Could 22 month old be ready to drop nap???

I just can't get her to sleep before 9pm at the moment. However she's capable of sleeping till 8. Yesterday she napped from 12.30 till 1.30 and it was still 9pm before she was asleep. I'm keeping her up today as an experiment. Can't quite believe she's ready to drop nap though so interested to hear about others.

By about 20 months DD would refuse to have a nap (she just wouldn't go to sleep either on the boob, or in the car) every other day or so. By the time her 2nd birthday rolled round she'd have a nap once a week or less. She's now nearly 26 months and rarely has a nap at all. She's also a lousy sleeper.

She seems to take after me - according to my mother I just wasn't that interested in sleep at any time of day (or night, if we're honest). Whereas they had worried phone calls from the school nurse because my sister would fall asleep on the playing field at lunch time if she was tired enough. They're all individuals.

Then again, are 9pm bedtimes a problem for you? If it ain't broke...

alittleteapot - how did your 'experiment' go?
My DD has been very difficult to settle recently. Despite our efforts, she went to sleep at 10pm last night and DH says he feels he has no life! We're wondering if dropping her afternoon nap would help too.

My 21month old has dropped his nap. Although it wouldn't take long for him to fall asleep, he wouldn't go to bed in evening, so I keep him up now. Sometimes he falls aslep over dinner or something, and can get a little ratty, but not too bad

She didn't have a nap yesterday and was ok and went to sleep at 7.30 which was lovely as it gave me a bit of time and still a relatively early night. Today she had a shortish nap in the car - about 40 mins. When she dropped her morning nap she went through a phase of needing it about once every four days - maybe she'll go through a similar process. She's actually sleeping much better at night recently - maybe that's a contributory factor.
