5 week old waking at 5am

Couldn't decide where to post this! Is it food, wind or sleep?

My ds (5 weeks) has a feed at 11pm ish then wakes at 2-3am ish. He then wakes at 5am, very windy but not hungry. Really upset with himself and difficult to settle back down.

I am winding him as thoroughly as I can at every feed.

Anyone had this? Any tips?

Have you tried Infacol? Worked well for us for the first couple of months.

Erm I hate to say this but that might be his waking up time. Can you play with him a little while and then see if he settles?

My nearly 5 week old does the same. Last two nights I've put him in my bed at this time and he will sleep another hour, not really into co-sleeping but I have a non-napping 2.5 year old to entertain all day so more sleep is good no matter how, if I put him back in the cot he only sleeps another half hour.

I think a lot of babies do have a 5 am alarm clock in their heads. My dd1 has always slept longer, but dd2 has woken at 5ish every morning since she was born, and she is now 23 months.

It is really hard when she or her sister woke in the night as well, but otherwise I try and go to bed earlier.

Sorry, it's probably not what you wanted to hear!

Been to get Infacol today so will try that. I did think that maybe that was just what time he wanted to get up, but he does almost exactly what iwantitnow decribed (down to the 3 yr old dd!) and will go back to sleep if in bed with me, which I hate as I jerk awake constantly thinking that I've rolled on him

I guess I'll just have to go with it and pray for an extra hour - even 6am is more civilised than 5am!

Thanks a lot
