Anyone else having probs getting children to bed since it's gone light at night?

ds (5) obv. equates darkness with going to bed and I hae a full scale war/bribery/threaten thing going on every night to explain that even though it's light outside - it is STILL 8 o'clock!

Any tips that work?

Black out blind! And keep bedtime wind down time in his room with the door shut as he will be able to see that it's light outside. We got a blind from Ikea for less than £20 but you have to cut it to size. Because a little bit of light used to peep through the edge of the blind, I bought some blackout lining for his curtains as well. These are ready made and just hook on the the back of your current curtains. I got mine from Sundour (sundour.co.uk) and they were £40.

So you could be looking at a £60 outlay but I reckon it's worth it!

Thanks lovelymama - his bedroom is dark just now - I just need to get him there! He plays out in the garden with the dog or wants to go to the woods with dad and dog. Its fine when it's raining!
I think I'll lure him through to his room early and play with lego etc and then his brain may register dark iykwim.

ah sorry, didn't realise you already had blind in place. yes you're right....if you can get him in the room to play for 15 mins before bed time, he might not realise that the rest of the house is light and will be fooled in to thinking it's bed time!

good luck!
