How to put a co-sleeping baby to bed once she can roll over?

Hi,
We have been happily co-sleeping with dd (6 months old). I put her down in the evening in her cot which has one side off and is pushed right up to our bed, then during the night feeds she is sometimes in our bed, or sometimes makes it back into the cot. This has been working well for us so far. She can't roll over yet but seems to be on the brink of doing so!
My question is really about what to do when we go on holiday next month. We are staying in a villa and are not sure about a cot being available so imagine dd will just sleep in between us in bed. That will be fine once dh and I are in bed, but I'm wondering how to put her down to sleep in the evening before we go to bed, because she'll probably be able to roll by then and I don't want her to roll right out of bed!
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I had problems with this too.

For your holiday you'll either have to take a travel cot, or go to bed when dd does. Or let her sleep on the floor downstairs with you? Maybe?

Be careful. The other morning my dh got up leaving me and ds asleep in bed. I was woken a while later by ds falling out of bed on dh's side .

put pillows on either side of her? (not right up against her, but just in case she rolled she'd 'hit' something and stop rolling)

Thanks. We have been thinking of getting a travel cot but not sure how lightweight they are (for taking on plane).
Is it ok to leave pillows? Once they can roll could they not roll over a pillow?
Hope ds was ok after the tumble Lawks.

Yes, my DS would have taken the pillows off right along with him (poss. not at 6months but then I'd have worried about suffocation too)

Travel cot would be atrociously heavy for a plane. You could get a Samsonite popup bed, - or a Nomad Travel tent would last you longer (I have the Nomad and it's fab, but it depends on how much co-sleeping and travelling you'd do in the future as it's expensive)

I'd go for baby bed on the floor, baby asleep in sling on me/DH till our bedtime, or else just go to bed with the baby. Are you taking a pram? She could go in that if it's comfy enough??

I have a lovely Loola too! We're not taking it for the same reason as you MrsJ but have bought a cheapo buggy that does recline (not quite flat but almost) which I hope she might have her naps in. I like the idea of making a bed on the floor for her but will also check out the popup/travel tent. Thanks for all the ideas.

We co-sleep with our now 20month old dd. When away I usually push the bed against a corner of wall (stuffing blankets or something down any gap between wall and mattress caused by frames) and then make the duvet into a barrier on the other 2 sides until we go to bed with her. I also have an excellent baby monitor (which works on mains/batteries) which I take so that I can be confident that I would hear any ambitious movements over the duvet mountain!
Goodluck whatever you try

I have alwauys done what UmPixie does (bed to side/pillows on floor/take our chances). I have made beds on the floor out of a duvet too and had her asleep on me if necessary! Dd has always been fine, but then she used to cry when waking. Ds has more of a habit of happily pootling off our (low) bed
