DD has been a good sleeper since we got over colic and is fairly good at self-settling (although she does need a dummy to get back to sleep if she wakes in the middle of the night). I am fairly certain she is starting to teeth (we have no teeth yet) and she is currently waking 2/3 times a night and coo-ing, then getting frustrated and tearful that she can't get back to sleep. Usually the dummy and a kiss works, a couple of times we have to cuddle her back to sleep. Does this sound like textbook teething? And am I 'setting myself up' for anything by going to her and settling her... should i try cc - or am i being daft (I am truly pooped!) [

Yes, sounds like normal teething, maybe with a bit of growth spurt or gross motor skill development thrown in. Is she learning to crawl?

no just rolling still, but pushing herself up on her tummy properly now... she only turned 7 months today, and has gone from total disinterest in her milk (btween feeds) to a milk monster - so a growth spurt is possible too... do i just trust my instincts and settle her?...

I think it's hard to go wrong as a parent if you trust your instincts.

Well done, sounds lovely. Personally, if she settles easily, I wouldn't bother with any of the cc - though think it's great you can settle her with a dummy and a kiss - mine needs feeding mostly. And he is a wriggler/crawler so up and about and looking over the cot/crawling over me - no chance of a soothing kiss back to sleep usually

Agree, trust your instincts - they get easier as they get older (rather than the first year of teething/development/growth spurts/separation anxiety.)

so last night she woke at midnight, 2am and 3am for extended wingeing... and she had a very snotty nose this morning - life isn't fair when you are tiny is it?!! may administer some baby neurofen tonight, but isn't it funny how by the third night of rubbish sleep your body kind of gets used to it - I feel much better than I did yesterday and had even worse sleep!! now i have to choose between another early night and Lost tonight... decisions, decisions!!! Although I might not be so jolly this time tomorrow.... Xmas Wink
