Why won't baby sleep longer?

My 6 month ds won't sleep beyond 5.30 am, even when the clocks went forward weirdly. But then at about 8.oo he gets really sleepy and has started taking long naps, usually 1-2 hours, but can be longer. Any advice?

sorry - babies do that! You can sometimes drag them out longer by co-sleeping and bfing them as they wake to get them back to sleep before they wake fully! Or you might even be able to just cuddle him back to sleep if he's nice and warm next to you.

We've begun co-sleeping recently after he feeds at about 1.30 (we don't wake him for a dream feed) because it takes him ages to settle himself and I'm so tired. I try bfing him first thing but he just wants to babble and play. He follows a routine in the evening and is always desperate to sleep at 7-7.30, we've tried making bedtime later but he's too tired.

I'm afraid it might just be something you need to wait for him to grow out of then! Get yourselves to bed earlier so it doesn't exhaust you too much.

Get a play pen and some toys for next to the bed.
