Transition from Moses Basket to Cot (and cot bumpers)

Hi,
I have a 4.5 month old baby boy who is getting too big for his moses basket. I have tried many times to put him to sleep for his day naps awake in his cot however he screams until he gets so worked up the only thing I can do is breastfeed him for comfort. I have tried putting his moses basket in his cot for transition (as it is also a new room for him) and this has worked fine. I have just purchased a white cot bumper so that the cot looks the same as his moses basket in case this will help with the transition (crazy I know). There however seems to be such conflicting information on the use of cot bumpers regarding sufficent air flow into the cot. I am a bit confused as currently my baby takes up the whole of the moses basket so surely the cot will have more air circulation than he has in the moses basket??? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated and if anyone has any tips on getting him to sleep in his cot they will be gratefully received.
Thanks :-)

Hi, I haven't seen any of the info on cot bumpers and airflow, but I have always used them - all my dc's have rolled over in their sleep at some point and banged their head on the bumper and I do think it makes them feel more secure.

I did the whole moses basket in the cot to aid transition and it really did help. Do you use a sleeping bag for your ds? if he is quite confined in the basket it might help to make him feel more snug in the cot. god luck!

Cot bumpers go at the head of the cot adn your ds will go at the foot, so there should be a good flow of air anyway around his head. Agree with the sleeping bag suggestion though.
