brain capsize again - helping 4.5 month old to settle

My 4.5 month old is fed to sleep 90% of the time. She goes to bed at 8pm, wakes for one feed in the night and then gets up at about 6am. Except sometimes (like this morning) it's 4.45am. She not hungry so won't feed to sleep and I can't find another way of settling her.

Help! She won't take the dummy we tried (Tommee Tippee) and she's a bottle-refuser so I can't even go turn and turn about with my other half. If I bring her into our bed she just pats my face still I open my eyes (sweet, I know, but...). What should I try? A comfort object? Her own room (she's usually happy and playful when she wakes)? A cot instead of her carrycot?

Really want to try something so we aren't both lying in bed crying in the small hours!

Anyone? Might giving her a muslin work to help her settle?

SM - hopefully the clock change will help! She falls asleep herself at 8pm right now... I haven't encouraged her!

agree with muslin or one of those taggy toys -that seemed to help dd when she went through this phase.

Did you use a taggy, poppy? I wondered whether muslins would be too associated with food (I feed with one under her chin) so maybe a taggy would be better. The only thing is the danger of losing a favoured blankie!

yes - although the most popular is one with a head on .. I confine it to bed though and use muslins out and about (it doesn't seem to have been associated with food as she likes the idea of rubbing the material against her face and twiddling the label). taggies seem to be reasonably easily replaced.
