8 month old waking earlier

My 8 month old DD has always been a great sleeper (slept through at 12 weeks 7pm - 7.30am) but has recently started waking around 5.45am and babbling. She will sometimes drift back to sleep after 30mins but not always. She is also waking after 1.5hrs from her post lunch nap (she usually sleeps for at least 2hrs)and then can't make it past 4.30pm without another nap. She is far more restless in the day and I think she is teething but her first 2 teeth didn't cause her any problems so I'm not convinced it is just teeth.

The added problem I have is that my DS (2.9) is being disturbed by her and is also starting his days earlier and is very tired.

She eats well at luch and tea time and isn't hungry for breakfast (sometimes only has 5oz milk and no solids). She naps at 9.30am for 30mins, 2 hrs after lunch and 30mins at 4.30pm on a normal day so I don't think she is having too much sleep?

We used to leave our heating on over night in the winter and have recently turned it off so could she be cold?

Also, her room does get quite light and noisy with the dawn chorus - could this wake such a previously deep sleeper? It never seemed to before.

Sorry it's a bit of a ramble but any suggestions would be greatly apreciated

Get some blackout blinds

I have had this with both mine

Virtualy every small child i know is waking early at the moment - my two certainly are.

I think it's the lighter mornings - though the clocks going forward should help.

Black out blinds?

thanks for the advise - think black out blinds are the way forward

as a continuation of this...

I have blackout blinds in my 14 month old's room but just this week she has started waking earlier, at about 5.20, I think it's the sunny mornings and dawn chorus as well,

quite a lot of light comes in round the sides of the blinds, is there anything I can do about this? I don't want a completely blacked out room but it's quite bright first thing as is east facing,

no room for curtains of any sort due to structure of room/windows,

any ideas? am getting desperate (and v v tired)

Try a 'baa baa portable blackout blind', it attatches to the window itself with suckers, & blocks out nearly all the light, they cost about £25ish but you can take it on holiday etc, well worth the money imo!!
