Any tips on extending the length of a three month old's naps?

DD2 will only nap in her cot for 30 mins at a time. Never more. In the pram she will do more and is in a much better mood after a long lunchtime nap. Without that long nap she needs to be put down for her 30 min cat-naps every 90 minutes which is a nightmare.

Does anyone know how to get her into a longer nap routine at lunchtime?

Sorry I still haven't found the answer to this, my ds is 4.5 months and I have decided to just go with his flow, even if he is grumpier than I would like at times.

artichokes here is what I posted on a similar thread yesterday. Good luck!

My 18 week old DS is really good at settling himself - in his cot with his light show on, sometimes cries for 3/4 mins but nothing major however he would always wake after 45-60 mins - he would still be tired but just wouldn't resettle.

I read somewhere on the internet about static radio (a station that just plays crackles) and I tried that on in the background but it didn't work, then I read that it had to be on from the start of the nap and louder than if baby were crying so I turned the volume right up (I can hear it if I am outside his room) and he has slept for 2 hours every day (and I wake him up) for the last 8 days. Its been fantastic and I hope it lasts!! Worth a try??

I'll give anything a go CO. What frequency was the radio channel?

no frequency - but I'm not sure you can use a digital radio, you want an old fashioned one (i.e. really cheap ) where you can find a fuzzy station IYSWIM.

Just before she wakes, or as she is stirring but before she is fully awake or distressed, go quietly into her room and shush-pat her back to sleep.

Neither of mine went any longer than that in the cot until they hit 5 months. Before then, we used the pram or car to get at least one good nap into them each day and went with the flow for the rest.

Then, around the 5 month mark, they just seemed to get the hang of it. (Although she's up there screaming now having woken up after only 30 mins. She's pissed off and wants to go back to sleep but seems to have lost the knack of settling herself. SIGH.)
