My ds3 is 7 months old. We co-clept for the first months and he would pretty much feed (bf) on and off through the night. From months, we started putting him in his Amby hammock next to our bed on my dh side on and off. Basically, he goes to sleep in it around 7:30 after a bf and will stay asleep for around 4 hours. When he wakes for a feed, after I have gone to bed, dh passes him to me and i feed him in bed and then dh puts him back in the hammock. The problem is that on a bad night, this can be hourly or more. We are both at the end of our tether with exhasution.

We both read the NCSS and sort of started it, but I think we are confused. I understand the concept of pulling him off the breast before fully asleep, but how does this work with putting him back in the hammock? I mean, he pretty much feeds back to sleep in the bed, but then rouses sligtly when put in the hammock - so technically is not asleep. But this doesn't change the frequency of the night wakings.

I was wondering if I would be better going back to co-sleeping (from when he first wakes) so that I can really work on the pull of thing, but then leaving him in bed with us.

Really, I just don't get how it all works when you are combining feeding in bed with putting them in their own bed.

Any help please?

Are you all off settling your babies to sleep?

I think you need to stop him falling asleep on the breast for it to work. That's what you're aiming for.

Yes, but do I do that while co-sleeping first and then get him back into the hammock, or continue to put him in the hammock after feeding? I find it all very confusing. Ds1 and 2 were in the hammock from day one with no problems. ds1 was a thumb sucker and ds2 had a dummy. Ds3 won't take anything other than me!

Hmm. I think it shouldn't matter, as they're off the breast, so whether you move away or lift him into hammock, they're coming off. I haven't co-slept so can't help you there sorry.
