Please join me if your LO is sprouting some new pegs and your sleep is non existent... I need some reassurance that this too, shall pass.....

DD's 8 months, and she's been cutting her top front two for what seems like forever (about 2 weeks of grumps and counting, poor little lamb)

can i join?
my 16 month ds got his first tooth last month and has got 3 more this month! he's also had conjunctivitis and a cold, so no sleep at all here too! he's taking to waking up at 5am onwards, eek! now that i think his immediate teeth are through and i can't see any more, i desperately want to get back to our 7am get up routine.
ashtons and parsons powder does work a treat though - have you tried it?

IHeartIona · 23/02/2009 14:18

I'm in!
dd is 11 months and getting her top two through at the moment (only has 2 others) - meaning very short naps in the day... 20 mins this morning only..... plus waking twice a night (as usual) but some nights not settling back for hours....

TettyLouBar · 23/02/2009 16:13

Ah ladies, come join me in the no-sleep corner. Welcome!
DD is currently taking to waking and having a little party in her cot at about 5am. She used to be soooo fabulous at sleeping, she was a 8am riser which I just adored. where has that gone??

Any more bleary eyed narcoleptics out there who need to sound off - roll up roll up!

zzzzzzzzzzz

we have hopefully the back set of molars coming thru now. first molars came thru just before christmas at 14 months old. i can't wait for teething to be over as i am shattered by being woken up at night by a screaming baby that takes a couple of hours to settle back to sleep.

babyphat · 25/02/2009 10:52

ugh, me too. formerly awesome sleeper (woke lots to eat but always rolled over and went back to sleep), now waking up howling, pooing in the middle of the night, wide awake at strange times etc. ugh. night before last was worst ever, only got sleep in 45 minute bursts and horribly cranky when awake - ended up carrying her in the sling literally all day and she slept it off, wish i could've too. and i see no sign of actual teeth in there, so goodness knows how long we have of this. anyone tried those amber beads> and where do you buy A&P powders? i have some from holland and barratt, not sure if they worked though.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 25/02/2009 11:03

I'll join if that's ok!

My 8 month old ds2 has got his bottom two but is now struggling like mad with no sign of the top ones making an apprearance anytime soon

I can't seem to buy ashton and parsons powder anywhere round here atm either.

He's having calpol or ibuprofen when things get really bad, but he still isn't a happy chap.

DS1 was awful when teething too, I feel jealous of people whosay - I looked into his mouh and little jonnyhas got 4 teeth - wonder when they cme through?

babyphat · 26/02/2009 09:47

urgh, hellish night here, got her to sleep at 11, left her with DP so i could get some sleep [gratitude emoticon]

they came to bed at quarter to one, she woke more or less every hour from there on, cranky, hungry, not hungry, bite-y, shouty, cross... by 7 or so i was starting to wonder, in my sleep deprived delirium, whether a tot of whisky before bed (for me) would conk her out

i won't though!

ChocOrange05 · 26/02/2009 12:32

Is clamping down on my nipple with his gums teething?? He doesn't seem bothered yet but I'm certainly in pain

TettyLouBar · 26/02/2009 16:33

My DD used to do that Choc, I swiftly used to pull away and say No, and she only tried it a few times, even though she didn't have teeth at the time, it still hurt!
It could be teething or it might be just him getting the biting reflex going - they like trying to bite different textures dont they!

DD is - I think - finally nearing the end of teething saga II, I have a terrible feeling that the next set of teeth aren't far behind though.

Personally for me, this has been the hardest part of parenting......so far.... Maybe because I was used to DD sleeping reasonably well and she was establishing nice little routines, then out of the blue she went mental - up all hours screaming and grumpy ALL day. Found it difficult to deal with.

I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who has had very little sleep recently...

i am hoping that by the time Ds is 18 I will have had a couple more nights of good sleep.

Ds was brilliant until 4 months old then the teething nightmare started. He got 4 molars at once for christmas when he was 14 months old. when that settled i got a few nights of at least 4 hour block sleep and 8 hours overall (thats going to bed at 9pm).

i think the back molars are coming thru now as we are starting the wake up screaming routine again now.
