hi there..
my 7 week old is actually a sleepy boy but the problem is he will only sleep on me in the day and although i have managed to get him to sleep next to me at night by swaddling and keeping my hand on his tummy he wakes every 1-2 hours and is hard to settle..he will rarely be breastfed to sleep and often refuses feeds if i offer them too much and can go for 4 hours between feeds so don't think is hunger waking him.he is a big boy 10lbs at birth and gaining weight well so he must be geting enough..normally at night i have to cuddle/rock him then try and put him back down..he is windy but i think this is improving slightly..sometimes at night i notice he needs to fart after waking!!in the day he sleeps 2-3 hours at a time on me or my partner when he comes home..he then feeds is awake for an hour or 2 then needs to sleep again..if i try and put him in his carry cot he wakes almost straight away but still needs to sleep..so i just end up letting him sleep on me as otherwise he is overtired and grumpy any way..i accept that babies of this age need physical contact but as i am on my own with him most of the day and eve this can be wearing..i also have a 4 yr old that i have to bathe make dinner for and put to bed usually with 1 hand!!i have a sling which i use when i take my son to school but he only seems to manage about 20 mins in it before i have to get him out...it is the same when i take him out in his pram... sorry this is a bit of a ramble..any advice please???

It sounds like he's sleeping well when a little upright and not well when he's horizontal. You can put books or bricks under one end of his cot or mothercare probably carry "sleep positioner" pillows that will elevate. With DS we had him in a Fisher Price rocker in reclined position until he started rolling over.

Thanks..yes i have thought that..we co sleep on sofa bed at the mo but maybe i could try reclining chair as my friend gave me one but i haven't used it yet as its too big for him..but i suppose if its fully reclined that wouldnt matter..do you know why he maybe more unsettled being flat..is it to do with wind?

Reflux. It's perfectly normal at that age, not GERD. (I.e. doesn't need medication.)

thanks again..whats GERD?do you know when they grow out of this?
