Ok if this topic has just been brought up take me into the backyard and shoot me!

I'm 12 weeks and a bit pregnant and I can't sleep... it's been really bad for about 4/5 days... I sleep for 30 minute stints and it takes me ages to get to sleep... I'm sooooo tired... I can't even vacuum (ahem )... I wake up at 2am and my body thinks it's morning and I just lie there! And I can't get to sleep till after 11 ... my DS is running around like some kind of ferral child, all my energy's taken up with changing and feeding him.... big sigh... is there a magic cure???

Also I'm not getting out of the house and I'm beginning to go..like...weird!

get that lavendar oil down you then, may istsend you into a blissful sleep (or just help you relax, whatever). Thanks for the hugs & good luck with the sleeping project!

Chamomile is another good oil to use but is a lot more expensive than lavender. Last time round i was drinking chamonile tea before having a bath with a couple of drops of lavender in then going to bed. This time i am working evenings and have a three year old to contend with i don't think i am ever going to sleep again, as soon as i nod off dd is screaming or crawling up the middle of the bed sticking knees and elbows where they are least wanted.

I know how you feel mummyhill I have a wriggler too! The lavendar is so nice and relaxing on my pillow and in the bath but I'm still waking up constantly....I feel constantly jumpy and zomby-like! I hope you and misschief get some zzzzzs

My mother keeps telling me it is natures way of getting me used to the night time wake up calls. Well i think mother nature needs to know that we have been there, done that and worn the t-shirt, we know what to expect this time round so let us get the sleep in now before we turn into complete zombies!!!!!! As for the kids they must know that something is going on which will mean less attention for them so they are making the most of it whilst they can, bless, hope you get some sleep soon.

I couln't disagree more with the whole 'nature preparing us for when the babys here' business. I'm sure when baby arrives I'll sleep so well in between it being awake. Is this first time mum naivety but i'm sure the fact that that there is actually a baby there needing a feed/change will give a good point to being constantly awake throught the night? So far the one thing I've found that works is resisting napping in the day (about as impossible as resisting chocolate digestives)and doing loads in the fresh air - long walks etc, ie, knackering myself out - this dosnt seem to have any reducing effects on the 150 wees i manage a night though

I had terrible problems with insomnia to the point where I was prescribed temazepam, and even that didn't work! Bizzarely, i had a banana one night before bed and slept like a baby. I thought it was coincidence but i looked into it and apparently bananas do make you sleep better! Maybe give it a go if you can stomach it x
