Just had this clinic suggested to me.

Has anyone used any of its packages?

How long did it take?

Any idea of the cost?, they're not giving much away on the website.

TIA.

A RL Mum I know used them. As I recall, she told me they do 3 separate packages depending on teh level of support you want (ie they give you the option of phoning them in middle of night for advice but this would cost more money) and length of time (she didn;t want to do controlled crying so paid more as it was anticipated it would take longer). Think she paid £700. She said she saw it as an investment as the lack of sleep was really getting to her and her DH.

Good luck with it!

Thanks FL.

Hello, I've just been sent info from Millpond, we are planning to use them. It's £120 for a one off consultation following which they'll produce a plan for you, but they really recommend using one of their packages, which are £225 for their "core" package - basically a consultation, a plan and 4 weeks of support, or £295 for their "premier" package, similar to core but also reviews in weeks 5 and 6 and a free book. We're going to shell out for the premier package, as our baby is (just) under 6 months and they recommend this for younger babies, and because I don't want to do controlled crying - they said that other approaches might take a little longer. Hope this helps.

Hello BoiledEgg. We used Millpond with our then 8 month old and found them to be really good - we got a package where we had four weeks of support - I really think you need that ongoing support, it's no good just having a one-off consultation as the hardest bit is seeing it through over the coming weeks. It was so good to know that after they had written our sleep plan that I could ring whenever I wanted to talk to Mandy Gurney (who is the head/owner of Millpond)(and really lovely) about how we were doing. It was a slow process as we too did not do controlled crying, but gradual retreat - so there were no miraculous results, but things did get better bit by bit and I honestly think that without them we would have been a total mess for a whole lot longer! So I say go for it ... good luck!

Thank you both so much for replying, we are waiting for the book to arrive, and hoping to get some ideas and help.

The cost of the packages is less than we were originally told, and I think they are worth the investment.

Thanks again.

No problem, I am going to try to get a telephone consultation on Friday morning (they were the next available slots when I spoke to them last Friday) to start our package... will post after that and let you know how we get on - I think I need an actual person to speak to rather than just the book as I just don't trust myself to follow the book at silly o'clock by the time we've been woken for the 8th / 9th / 10th time...! I also think having paid that much money might force me to stick with it!

osborne · 25/01/2009 13:33

I used the for dd1 when she was about 10 months and waking 2 hourly. they had her sleeping through within a week.

it was great to have someone to tell me exactley what to do, having tried all sorts of things. the follow up support is really important and gives the confidence to see it through.

highly recommend them, money well spent!

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 25/01/2009 19:44

Gosh, they are very popular aren't they?

We have tried one book for advice, but it's a bit wishy washy. As for results in a week, we would pay anything for that.

Thank you both, hope to hear positive news on Friday.

we're about to start using them too for our 9 month old, maybe we can have a Millpond support thread!

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 27/01/2009 19:30

That sounds like a good idea Pic.

Hope you get good results.

Had our call with Millpond this morning. Seems like good, sensible advice. Not rocket science, and not promising quick results, but their programme for us is something which I feel totally comfortable about implementing - really gentle on our little boy (and on me!). It feels like a big relief to have a set plan that DH and I agree on, rather than cobbling together bits of advice from various books, HVs etc.

Just off to start our new bedtime routine (about 2 hours earlier than normal!!)... I guess the real test will be whether things are any better in a week or two! Will keep you posted...

How are all your Millpond plans going?

FlapjakFairy · 08/02/2009 20:58

Hello, new username (was bensbusymummy).

Well, I think, in answer to your question babyOcho. Really pleased with results so far. We're about 10 days in to our plan, and I now have a baby who will settle to sleep in his cot with me rubbing his tummy. It's not all by himself yet, but that's HUGE progress for us - before we started he needed breastfed or at the very least rocked to sleep. The best part is that we've got to this point fairly gradually and there really has been minimal crying - usually 1-2 minutes each time I settle him. He's still waking 3-4 times a night, but before we started the Millpond plan he was waking hourly on the majority of nights. We haven't had a night like that now in over a week. They've said that the night waking should stop once he learns how to self settle.

He's also napping consistently for 1 hour in the morning and 2 hours over lunch, from having been a real cat napper before.

Actually reading this back I think we've really come a long way. It has been HARD WORK as you have to be totally consistent and do the same thing each time they wake in the night, and every day, but I suspect it's going to be worth it. Millpond are very supportive and I'm so glad we signed up with them rather than trying to go it alone (also because I'd feel like an idiot telling the Millpond lady that I just let him sleep in our bed as I was too tired.... which is inevitably what would otherwise have happened). Will update in a week or so once we've got past the "putting down awake and not touching" point - think that will be a big step (although putting down awake at all was a big step, and it was much easier than I'd been anticipating).

Hi, I know it has been quite a while since your past posts but I am wondering if you got the results you were hoping for. Thank you very much !

Our sleep problems weren't too bad and we got a lot of free advice from sleepytot. But sleepytot recommend Millpond too for when you need professional support. x
