Bunny Alarm Clocks

Are you using one of those Bunny Alarm Clocks and if yes at what age did you start using them? DS is 20 months, was a good sleeper for the past couple of months (7.30 to 7.30) but suddenly wakes at 5.20 every morning. He just whinges and whines - I have tried everything, night light, toys in his cot (which he used to play with), heating on or off, When you go in he jumps on his toys in the cot and starts playing with them and is happy as Larry.
I let him sleep between 40-60 minutes at lunch time, if I didn't wake him he'd sleep much longer. He falls asleep within 5 minutes at lunch time and in the evening.

I'm just not sure if he'll 'get' the alarm clock' iyswim, so at what age did you start using them and are they worth their money?

I dont think they would make a difference till about 2 1/2 which is when we used fairy lights on a timer for dd when she used to come through too early. It wont necessarily stop the early waking, it just lets them know when it is a reasonable time to come out of their room. Can you not just ignore him if he isnt full out screaming? He might get bored and go back to sleep. DS is 2.3 years and still has a good 2 hours nap and goes to bed between 7.30 and 8pm. He wakes anytime from 6am but we can leave him till around 7am as he is happy to pootle about in his cot.

Not sure he'd understand - DS is 2.7 and we've just got a nightlight which changes picture at waking up time, and he understands that fine (we now have got over the initial problem that he understood it was time to get up with it, so switched it on when he wanted to get up).

That doesn't sound like a very long nap at lunchtime to me - have you tried a longer nap ?

Thanks. I know it won't stop the early waking, but I'll wait a little longer until we got one then.

I don't mind not going in straight away because I know he's not upset, just sort of half awake. But it's DH who usually ends up going in because he can't go back to sleep.

His nap used to be about 70 minutes, I thought that maybe it's too long and that was why he was waking up earlier, so I cut it down last week but I'm not sure yet if it makes a difference. He's fine with it in the afternoon but is often too tired for books before bed, so yes it may be too short.
