When is it safe to have something to cuddle in the cot?

I think DS would find it easier to settle himself with something to grab onto. In the pram he has his monkey, but it's very big and floppy so I don't think it's safe for the cot. He likes grabbing bits of fabric too but I worry about him pulling something over his head.

What's safe, and when can babies take something to bed with them?

Anything smaller than their head and larger than their mouth would be safe I would have thought? Cuddlies aren't as bad as pillows because they generally create their own air-spaces, even if on a head. Maybe look for a small floppy teddy, and stuff it into your bra for a few hours before giving it to DS? That worked a treat with mine...
