From Amby to cot sleep hell....just when we thought our 9mth old's sleep couldn't get any worse...

Okay, really need advice from wise mnetters, as 9months of sleep deprivation is really taking its toll.

DS is 9mths old and until a week ago has been in the amby natures nest. He's now crawling, standing up and trying to walk so we kept finding him sitting up in the amby close to falling out. So we moved him into a cotbed last week.

He has always been a rubbish sleeper at night often waking up 6+ times, but at least after a few months he started to go down to sleep really easily for naps during the day and at bedtime. We literally just had to put him in the amby, dummy in and he would get himself to sleep. At night he was in a grobag and during the day we would swaddle. We still give a dreamfeed but otherwise he isn't fed during the night.

Now he's in the cot he seems to think it's fab to practice his crawling/standing/bouncing/walking and I've just spent two hours again trying to get him down for his morning nap and he's still awake and talking to himself.

Other than the move from amby to cot, our bedtime routine is exactly the same, book, bath, bottle, lullaby music on and bed.

He does also have a cold just now which I know is making it harder for him, but am desperate for ways of how to get him sleeping better before I go back fulltime to a stressful job in 4 weeks time

Please help!

We put the Amby hammock over the cot and our baby slept well then. We lowered the hammock each day until the baby was sleeping in the cot but still within the hammock. It took about two weeks to get him to sleep in the cot.

I hope you can get a decent night's sleep as there is nothing worse than feeling shattered all the time. Good luck.

Thanks Gentle, hadn't thought of doing that. LO was getting stuck in the amby as he kept rolling onto his front trying to crawl and then getting stuck and waking up. It probably wasn't much worse than his current wakings though so might give it a try.

Anyone out there with words of wisdom please LO's 'sleep' is going seriously downhill and the last couple of nights he's ended up in with us which we really want to avoid. 4 weeks till back at work and I'm starting to panic!
