Baby's head is cold in the night....

This might sound like a silly question but I can't find any answers to it anywhere! My 7 month old DS is waking up in the night (always has done, so this isn't a new thing!). When I go in to him I do a check of all the obvious things that could be waking him up. His head and shoulders are always cool/cold (but not very cold). I know his body is warm because I feel the top of his back and it's ok. He wears a vest, babygrow, 2.5 tog grobag and a couple of blankets - I know it sounds a bit much but his room is quite cool and he seems to get comfort from having the weight of blankets on him. Is is normal for his head to be such a different temp from the rest of his body?

TIA

Sounds ok to me. How about a cotbumper tied along the side of the cot to keep out draughts? I need to get two myself as the cot is up against a freezing chimney breast on the other side and there's no door on his room!

Dd's head is usually cooler than her body during the night, but I've always taken this as normal - if her head is warm, I start worrying that she has a temperature. She sleeps in vest, pjs, 2.5 tog grobag, and I put socks on her if it is really cold. Sometimes if her back feels cold if she wakes during the night, I put a cardigan on her over her grobag, but she doesn't have blankets (no point - she starts one end of the cot and finishes the other having turned 180 degrees most nights ).
