My 2 1/2yo son has always been early riser but we are getting slightly fed up with his waking between 5.30 / 6am every morning crying, grumpy and having tantrums.
We moved to Australia 6 weeks ago and I now work full time, my husband is very good altough finding it tough being at home. LO does go to nursery 3 times a week and seems to be settling well. He did go to nursery in UK although I was only working part time so was at home with him more.
We would just like to have a morning where he doesn't wake crying, sometimes screaming (for attention not in pain)
Any advice or support welcome..Thanks

He just moved half way across the world and jumped several time zones. I think you're lucky he's waking up wanting attention at 6am and not midnight. Give him time to make the adjustment.

Thanks very much, you are probably right, he does wake 2 am onwards some nights but goes back off if I go in with him for a bit. I just hate hearing him cry out every morning, he was doing this before we moved, hoped it would stop now in own home and more settled..Don't know if we should leave him for a bit or go and get him up?
You reckon I should I just give it more time then?

I think the others are right about adjusting, but would just add this: our DD, at about the age, was starving when she woke up. We think her blood sugar was quite low and she would get up and just lose the plot. We started to give her (and still give at 5yrs) milk and a biscuit before bed and things improved. The only other thing is routine - they get so attached to knowing what happens next at this age that regular patterns (and telling them that this what is happening) really help - as everything has changed for him recently I would think that this is especially true. Knowing that after tea is bath and after bath is book etc etc (for the whole day if necessary) helped my DD feel less at sea (and we had only moved house). You could try at bedtime telling him what is happening the next morning/day (even if its just "you will wake up and it will be a lovely sunny day and then we will have cheerios for breakfast") when you put him to bed. I know it sounds daft when they are so little, but I think they understand. Hope that helps.
