Dropping daytime naps in cot - but will sleep in pram?

DD has just turned 2 and she will rarely go down for a daytime nap in her cot during the day now. Even if she is obviously tired she will NOT sleep in cot - just chats for 20 - 30 mins and then cries to come out. Such bad timing as I am 30 weeks pregnant with #2 and could use the rest time myself!

She is just about bearable without a nap most of the time. But often very tired and will fall asleep if I take her out for a walk in the pram or drive.

I guess I am wondering if this is a common pattern before dropping nap altogether? Also any tips on how to get through this time with another one on the way - I can't physically take her for a walk every day just so she can nap. I need to sit dooooowwwwnnnnn!

I can sympathise - hard being heavily pg with a toddler around. I'm now 38 weeks and DS is 2.4 yrs. He seemed to be dropping his nap a few months ago (much to my horror), but I discovered that he would nap if I snuggled up in bed with him.

So now we have a nice little routine where we read a story together in my bed and I cuddle him until he drops off. I then either sneak off downstairs, or stay and snooze with him.

May be worth a try? (oh and btw he goes to sleep by himself no probs at bedtime)

That sounds blissful! Definitely worth a try on days where she is really tired - though she isn't much of a cuddler and we've never had her in bed with us (which is not such a good thing at times like this).

Least you only have two weeks left of this stage - good luck with the new arrival.
