why is my DD getting tired so early

I guess I should be happy but this is not normal on her. She's 1 yo and from about 11 mo she was taking 1 nap only and going to bed around 7:30-8. Sometimes she takes two naps but then it means she goes to bed until 10:30 pm. Today she was crying out of tiredness since 5:30 and she has done that a few more times over the last week, to the point that she has ended up skipping meals.

Why is this hapenning? Is it because of the weather or because she started walking?

Probably she would be happier if I let her take a nap in the afternoon and I should just put up with the late bedtimes. What would you do?

I would either let her nap in the day, or put her to bed earlier.
is she having a growth spurt? both of mine want a lot more sleep when they are having one

growth spurt along with more physically & mentally active - walking & other skills tax them mentally & physically.

She may need a decent 2 - 2.5 hour nap at lunch time (enjoy!)

I agree it's because she's more active/ maybe growing. Is she eating more too? Is it possible to make her midday nap longer do you think? Or I've found with my DS that if I give him an earlier tea (4ish) on those kind of days then he can last a bit longer, then just have oatcakes and milk before bed to be sure he doesn't get hungry at 4am!

Oh no, I don't enjoy longer/more naps. She's been naping in her buggy for the last few weeks as well. She's been sleeping 1-1.5 hrs like this. I agree she should be taking at least 2 hrs for 1 nap but sometimes she is woken up by external noise... I can't go into a shop or sit down in a cafe because that certainly wakes her up.

I will have to give another walk in the afternoon which sounds the right thing to do, but I just wish I didn't have to.

Her food intake is a bit low. I should probably offer her more solids as well but I end up just cooking and cleaning all day long. She still has plenty of breastmilk thou.

Oh well, sorry about my rant. I should be happy that I will get fit and lose those extra kilos that are still hanging in my tummy.

By the way, I think tonight was just a very bad colic, I took me quite a while to settle her.

You know your DD best, and if you think she may need more solids then I'd try that as well. Also, sometimes my DS gets so hungry he can't eat IYKWIM so more solids might make every meal easier.

I do know what you mean about feeling like you cook and clean all day, though! Sometimes I feel like a cafe! What I try to do now is make DS's lunch in the morning when he's eating breakfast- maybe a sandwich, yoghurt with added seeds, grapes etc and I put it in a lunchbox with some snacks-oatcakes, raisins, satsuma, breadsticks, carrot sticks etc. That way, I don't have to worry about preparing food half way through the day and I just take it with me if I want to go out, so I don't feel tied to the house.

My DS usually sleeps in his buggy, which I like for the freedom of it but if he's tired I put him down in his cot in the day- could you do this sometimes? Mind you, an hour and a half in the middle of the day is pretty good TBH.
