When do babies stop feeling the need to grizzle/shout/chat themselves to sleep

My ds is 13 weeks and nearly always has a grizzle or chatter or even shout for 5-10 minutes before he falls asleep. I leave him to it unless he sounds distressed as my presence just seems to distract/annoy him and make him wide awake again (if he cries I always go to him). Talking to other mums this sounds pretty normal - but at what age do they stop doing it? (obviously not many adults do this so I'm presuming they grow out of it!)

My nearly 16 month old always hums/ m oans himself to sleep in the day, even in the car. Odlly, at night time he doesn't do it but his room is dark so I think it's a way of blocking out stimulation and kind of winding themselves down (I could be wrong though!)

Oh God, the noises ds used to make when nodding off.

He is 2.4 now and chatters and sings. It is very cute though.
